Many people still calling it SERB POWER, but officially it is now coming under ANRF framework, so application and calls are handled accordingly.

The POWER scheme is divided into two separate parts, and both have different timelines.

Two Components of SERB POWER Scheme (2026)

1️⃣ SERB POWER Fellowship (Nomination Based)

This is the monthly fellowship part.

Application Dates (2026):

  • Nominations are open throughout the year

  • There is no fixed last date

Selection Frequency:

  • Selection committee usually meets twice a year

How to Apply:

  • You cannot apply directly

  • Nomination must be sent by:

    • Head of Institution

    • OR Fellow of a National Academy

So if you are eligible, first talk to your institute head.

2️⃣ SERB POWER Research Grants (Call Based)

This is different from fellowship and works like a normal research grant call.

Application Dates (2026):

  • Applications are call-based

  • Current cycle (started in late 2025):

    • Last date: 31 January 2026

  • Future calls for 2026 are usually announced in:

    • July / August 2026 (expected)

All updates are published on official ANRF portal, so checking regularly is important.
