Fulbright-Nehru Postdoctoral Research Fellowship 2026–2027: Application, Timeline & Process

If you’re an early-career faculty member or researcher in India looking to spend serious research time in the U.S., the Fulbright-Nehru Postdoctoral Research Fellowship (FNPostdoc) is one of the most respected opportunities you can apply for.

It’s competitive, yes. But it’s also fully funded and academically prestigious. And if you’re planning for the 2027–2028 academic year, this is the right time to prepare.

Below is everything you need to know — especially the updated application process and official timeline.

What Is the Fulbright-Nehru Postdoctoral Research Fellowship?

This fellowship supports Indian scholars who have completed their PhD and are currently affiliated with an Indian academic or research institution.

It allows you to conduct 8 to 12 months of research at a U.S. institution.

Important:
This is not for earning another degree. It’s for independent research that strengthens academic collaboration between India and the United States.
