If you’re a college student or even a teacher who wants real research exposure at places like IISc, IITs, IISERs, or CSIR labs, this program is honestly a golden chance. Below is a simple and clear guide for the SRFP 2026 cycle, without unnecessary confusion.

Important Dates for SRFP 2026

Keep these dates in mind, because missing deadlines means waiting one more year.

  • The 65% marks condition does not apply for teachers.

💰 What Do You Get? (Fellowship Benefits)

SRFP may not be about huge money, but the academic value is massive.

  • Monthly stipend: ₹8,000 to ₹10,000 (enough to manage basic living)

  • Travel support: Train fare (Second Class / Sleeper) from your college to the host institute

  • Certificate: A joint certificate from IASc–INSA–NASI, which looks really strong on PhD applications and academic CVs

📝 How to Apply for SRFP 2026 (Step-by-Step)

  • Application portal: Apply only through the official IASc website

  • Documents needed:

    • Scanned mark sheets from Class 10 to latest semester

    • Each file should be JPEG, max 700 KB

The Write-Up (Most Important Part)

You need to write a 150–250 word statement about:

  • What area of science you want to learn

  • What kind of experiment, topic, or theory excites you

⚠️ Avoid generic lines. Don’t copy from the internet. Write in your own words, even if it’s simple.

Recommendation Letter:

  • Students must enter the email ID of one teacher who knows their academic work

  • The academy will directly contact them for the recommendation

🚀 Extra Tip for 2026 Aspirants

There is a special sub-scheme called FAST-SF 2026 (Focus Area Science Technology Summer Fellowship).

It is meant for students from:

  • North-Eastern states

  • Bihar, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh

  • UTs like J&K and Ladakh

The benefits and structure are almost the same, and the deadline is also 31 January 2026, so definitely check that option if you’re eligible.
